FROM MRS. MUNSON

Students at CES learn: “I will control my feelings; my feelings will not control me.” All feelings are okay. Experiencing strong feelings is a normal occurrence in life. Encourage your kids that it is okay to have comfortable and uncomfortable feelings, and it is normal to have strong feelings, but we need to make sure we handle them in an appropriate way. It is not okay to hurt someone else’s feelings or physically hurt others when we are feeling a strong emotion. Ask your student what strategies they use to help them to stay in control of their feelings. Here are some ways we can help our kids navigate their strong emotions: https://aliciaclarkpsyd.com/12-tips-parenting-child-intense-emotions/ Here is a video to better understand: https://video.link/w/eeZ8b

Here are some books to read together:

·       When Sophie Gets Angry by Molly Bang

·       My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss

·       Hands Are Not for Hitting by Martine Agassi

·       Today I Feel Silly: And Other Moods That Make My Day by Jamie Lee Curtis

·       Wilma Jean the Worry Machine by Julia Cook
