CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to our spelling bee participants! Recently, our school Insights program had a spelling bee for students in grades 2, 3, and 4. The school spelling bee was the first level in the Scripps National Spelling Bee program. Second grade students who participated were Ashlyn Anderson, Mayva Clements, Kinnick Coffey, Kierstyn Handy, Declan Handley, Lily Lambert, Addi McDonnell, Bailee Peterson, and Iris Thomson. Iris Thomson was the second grade spelling champion. Third grade spellers were Brynne Hilgendorf, Jenna Lehmkuhl, Harper Mink, Wyatt Petersen, Mckinley Schwandt, Autumn Snodgrass, and Garrett Snodgrass. Wyatt Petersen was the third grade spelling champion. Fourth grade participants were Knox Coit, Colin Determann, Hunter Gravert, Lincoln Petersen, Keegan Totten, and Brantley Weller. Hunter Gravert was the fourth grade spelling champion. Hunter, Wyatt, and Iris had a spelling bee to determine the school spelling champion and Wyatt earned first place! Wyatt advances to the regional level of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition. We are so proud of all the students who chose to enter and challenge themselves to learn to spell some difficult words! Sheryl Kennedy coordinated the spelling bee.

FROM MRS. MUNSON
This week discuss with your student(s) “we don’t have to be best friends, but we do have to be respectful”. We do not have to agree and be best friends with everyone we meet, but it is important to show respect and empathy. We have been focusing on student-to-student relationships. Students have been learning about empathy. Understanding how someone else feels is an important life skill.
Here is a video to watch with your student at home and further discuss what empathy means: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Itp21tly8nM&list=PLRnAhAymA0dRbPB7q2uafRBVBfw0Hy_X6
