FROM MRS. MUNSON
This week a topic to discuss is “I will focus on the things I can control”. Focusing on things that are outside of your control can leave you feeling anxious and overwhelmed. Helping students focus on things they can control empowers them to take responsibility for their own actions. This is important for academic success and social emotional wellbeing. If your child is experiencing overwhelming or out-of-control feelings, help your child focus on five things they can control right now in the moment (like a grounding activity). Have them use their fingers to count. For example:
1. I can control my breathing.
2. I can control my thoughts.
3. I can control my self-talk.
4. I can control what I say.
5. I can control my body.
