GOOD LUCK

            Good luck to the CES Battle of the Books teams! The participating students will be competing against third and fourth grade students from other area schools who have read the same 10 books. In addition to answering questions about the books, the students will also zoom with Claudia Mills, an author of one of the 4th grade books. Members of the fourth grade team are Addy Coffey, Emery Davis, Sophia Johnson, and Lily Laurion. Members of the third grade teams are Katelynn Burken, Elyna Clements, Cody Gravert, Luke Gravert, Landon Green, Hayleigh Lorenzen, Lakin Springer, and Addi Totten. The teams are coached by Sheryl Kennedy.

 

FROM THE CONFLICT MANAGERS

            Thank you to everyone who donated to support the Humane Society Fundraiser. We had a great response and support school wide and will be able to give a lot of items tomorrow, April 8th! Look for pictures coming soon to Class Dojo!

NO SCHOOL

            Just a reminder that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 15th due to Good Friday.

 

IOWA ASSESSMENTS TEST PREPARATION

SAVE THE DATE! APRIL 19TH – APRIL 21ST – APRIL 26TH – APRIL 28TH

            3rd and 4th grade students will be taking the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress or ISASP, on April 19th, 21st, 26th, and 28th. Both grades have already had guidance lessons on preparation, test anxiety, and motivation. Your encouragement of your students is greatly appreciated!

 

ISASP TEST TAKING TIPS:

1.       Get enough sleep.

2.     Eat a healthy breakfast.

3.     Read the directions carefully.

4.     Read the questions carefully.

5.     Always check your answers.

6.     Stay focused.

7.     Take your time.

8.     Most importantly – Do your BEST!

            Thank you to ADM for funding a grant to Camanche Elementary Robotics program. ADM will be providing funds to purchase specific STEM materials to further develop participating students’ skills in coding, creativity, problem solving, and collaboration. The items being purchased include a littleBits class set, SPIKE PRIME expansion sets, and SPIKE PRIME essentials. We greatly appreciate ADM’s support of our robotics program.

 

FROM MRS. MUNSON

             This week discuss with your student what it means to be a team player. Learning to work with others and be a member of a team is a valuable life skill. The ability to be a team player is one of the top 10 qualities employers look for in an employee. It is important that we work together to develop this skill so our students can be successful throughout their life. Check out these articles to help with teaching kids to be a team player at home:

NEWS FROM THE PTA

            ~ Candy bar sales are still going on! The money for these is due by April 11th to the CES Office. – If additional boxes are needed, please contact the CES PTA through email as we do have some boxes left to sell.

~ If you are interested in joining the PTA, feel free to come to the meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. You can also contact us via the PTA email at stormpta@yahoo.com or the Camanche Elementary PTA Facebook page. We are looking forward to a fun year of activities and events! Go CES Storm!
