Camanche School Board

The Camanche School District’s Board of Education met on Monday, October 17thPlease note that these are not the official minutes.  The official Agendas and Minutes from the Camanche Community School District school board are available and posted on our school district website (camanche.k12.ia.us).

 Items to highlight from this school board meeting would include:

  •  Superintendent Parker shared an invitation from Clinton Community College with the Board to attend the Career and Technical Education Center’s Open House on Monday, October 24th, from 4 – 7 p.m.  This facility will enhance the opportunities for our students who wish to start their career soon after graduating high school, or those who plan to receive additional training and skills in a specific vocational area.
  •  A representative from Estes Construction, was present to update the Board about Phase III of the Facilities Enhancement Project.  Work is steadily progressing and we tentatively plan to have the Choir Room and Wrestling Room ready for student use sometime around late fall.
  •  Superintendent Parker shared with the Board that student enrollment in the Camanche School District has increased for a second consecutive year.  In total, the Camanche School District serves 1033 students this year, which is an increase of 26 students. We have seen an increase of 13 Resident Students, an increase of 14 Open Enrolled In Students, and a decrease of 1 Tuitioned In Student. 
  •  The Board approved a Resolution adopting the Clinton County Hazard Mitigation Plan.  This allows the school district to be eligible to receive federal funds in the event of a disaster.
  • The Board approved a proposal from the Middle School and High School Leadership Teams to modify the bell schedule.  This will increase the amount of time spent in class for our secondary students.  The school day will begin and end at the same times and the time will be adjusted within the school day.
  • The Board formed an Ad Hoc Committee charged with the task of developing a Staff Recognition Program sponsored by the school board.
  •  Superintendent Parker informed the Board about the AEA’s Board Administrator Banquet scheduled for March 1, 2023.

As is usually the case, the school board completed the meeting by approving administrative recommendations regarding personnel.
